ROMALDKIRK

Hury Reservoir

Hector C. Parr

Hury Reservoir

This reservoir may be approached by car either from the road along Baldersdale from Romaldkirk, or the road to Blackton from Cotherstone. A steep and narrow lane connects these two roads, and passes close to the Hury dam. There is a car park at each end of the dam, with toilets and disabled facilities at the north end.

Fishing on Hury

FISHING

The reservoir is regularly stocked with trout. Fly and multi-bait fishing from the bank are permitted from 22nd March to 30th September for Brown Trout, and from 22nd March to 31st October for Rainbow Trout, with a daily bag of 8 fish, minimum size 23 cm (9"). Permits are available from the self-service machine at the north end of the dam.

ACCOMMODATION

Between Cotherstone village and the Hury dam you will find self-catering accommodation in a fine setting at East Briscoe Farm Cottages.
