ROMALDKIRK
Then and Now
Hector C. Parr
Photographs show some of the small changes which have occurred in Romaldkirk during the twentieth century.
An improved road surface has made access cleaner and faster,
but the view has not benefited from the accumulation of signs, poles
and wires.
The Kirk Inn has changed little, but modes of transport are different.
We have lost our shop and petrol pump, and the signpost to the "Railway Station"
Very little has changed here, except the appearance of an ugly street lamp....
... and the styles of dress.
View from the Church Tower, 1911 and 2002.
The windows and doors around Monk's Square have changed, but it retains its charm.
