ROMALDKIRK

Then and Now

Hector C. Parr

Photographs show some of the small changes which have occurred in Romaldkirk during the twentieth century.

Old Road
New Road
An improved road surface has made access cleaner and faster, but the view has not benefited from the accumulation of signs, poles and wires.

Old Kirk
New Kirk
The Kirk Inn has changed little, but modes of transport are different.

Old Junction New Junction
We have lost our shop and petrol pump, and the signpost to the "Railway Station"

Old South View
New South View
Very little has changed here, except the appearance of an ugly street lamp....

Old Hotel
New Hotel
... and the styles of dress.

Old Tower View
New Tower View
View from the Church Tower, 1911 and 2002.

Old Monk's Square
New Monk's Square
The windows and doors around Monk's Square have changed, but it retains its charm.
